- Prepare the beans Mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
- Make the flax egg In a small bowl, combine flaxseed and water. Let stand 5–10 minutes until thick and gel-like.
- Mix the pattie base Add the flax egg and Biltong Style Marinade to the beans. Stir in your chosen binding flour (oat, breadcrumbs, or chickpea flour). Mix well until combined. The mixture should be sticky but hold its shape. If too wet, add a little extra flour.
- Shape & chill Form into 4–6 patties. Place on a tray or plate and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to firm up.
